A Dress.....FOR ME!!!

I don't wear dresses but when I saw this fabric I knew it would be a beautiful dress. I'm still deciding if it needs straps.
Not the best photos, I'm not great with the timer setting

Bamboo velour romper

So I'm really unsure what to call it. At first I called it a jumpsuit, then I thought playsuit would be better. I really like romper though so thats what I'll stick with unless it is actually something else.
Montana chose the colours for me to dye the velour and I would have to say she has great taste. I drafted a simple shorts and bodice pattern to Montanas size and started cutting and sewing. I didn't know if you could shirr bamboo velour or not but found out you can! I shirred around the waist and a couple of rows across the back. The leg holes were loose but Montana wanted elastic in themwhich was a good idea because it ballooned them beautifully.
Good in the sandpit....
and fun for rollerskating.

Christmas Swap

Here is what I got from my swap partner. We love everything, my swapper got everything spot on.
Montana got paint a mug and cup set, which she loved doing.
Jacob got three really cool animalz and a matchbox truck.
I got a beautiful tea cup and saucer to go with the rest of my collection and a really yummy smelling vanilla candle, vanilla is my fav scent ever.

Colour Book

Here is one of the parts of my Christmas swap. It was quite time consuming doing all those appliques but well worth it. It's a book of colours that make up a rainbow.
The stars on the front page, the rainbow and the solid edge pieces are minky. Every page is topstitched with matching coloured thread. There are also ribbons, ric rac and little pom poms on each page and I hand embroidered a little message on the back page too.

Bag Piping Tutorial

All the bag piping I found was so damn ugly that I decided I would make my own to match Montanas travel bag.

There may be another way to make it but this is how I figured out to do it.

You buy some of this stuff. It was only marked as 30c per mtr but I think it's nylon cording? It comes in sifferent sizes, decide on what size you want.

You set your machine on a straight stitch with your zipper foot on, get your material and fold about 1.5cms over your cording

Try to keep it tight as you sew

When you come to the end of your material, cut along the folded piece, DONT cut your cording, go back to the top of your material and fold it down about 1.5cms and repeat the same process.

Baby shower nappies....completed!!YAY!!!

So I finished the baby shower nappies and apparently they were a hit at the shower.

First time using a tight zig-zag to stitch script.

Travel bag for Montana

Montana went away for the weekend and I made her a travel bag to put all her clothes in. She didn't take it :( My mum showed up with a disney princess suitcase on wheels. Oh well we can use it for other stuff. I used a tutorial on craftster with a few adjustments.
I stuffed it with a pillow for the photos :D

The ends, all ready to have a long strap added

The inside

I also made a zippered bag for her toothbrush and toothpaste to match but Monty put her pencils and textas in it. Which now has resulted in Jacob drawing on it.

Wow its been 10 days since my last post :O I thought while I'm sitting here waiting for the purple hair dye to set I might put up a list of everything that I'm working on at this moment. Apart from running a handmade nappy swap on NA and having entered into the Christmas swap aswell I also have:

  • 2 chalkboard travel mats for my brothers Austin and Memphis (very late birthday presents)
  • Some trainer pants for Austin and Memphis
  • A few newborn nappies for a baby shower (1 is complete, 1 is half done)
  • A friend of mine gave me a few fat 1/4s to make her girls some dresses/shirts/skirts, I have made one top, 2 dresses and a skirt so far
  • A dress for me (which is half done)
  • A christmas dress for Montana
  • A christmas nappy and shorts and shirt for Jacob

For the Fabric Addicts

This post is inspired by JJJ's Dr Karl. I saw him on ABC 3 this morning wearing a shirt his wife had made out of this fabric but in the red colourway (which I'm yet to get my hands on)
